Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Best School Tools for use of bestschooltools.com and related tools. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you are using the service for a school, you confirm you have authority to bind that school.
1. The service
We provide AI-assisted teaching tools, optional paid plans, classrooms, hosted lessons, and related features. The service is provided over the internet and will change over time. Free plans have limits. We may add, change, or withdraw features with reasonable notice where we can.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate registration details and keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13. If you are under 18 you may only use the service with a parent, guardian, or school’s permission as your local law requires.
Schools must not require children under 13 to create personal consumer accounts. See the Student Data Addendum and Privacy Policy.
3. Plans and payment
Paid plans are billed by Stripe in the currency shown at checkout. Prices can change for later renewal periods; we will show the price before you pay. Subscriptions renew until you cancel. Cancel through your account or Stripe’s customer portal where we provide it. Fees already paid are not refunded except where the law requires it or we choose to refund.
Taxes may be added where Stripe is required to collect them.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the prompts, files, and materials you submit and of the outputs the tools generate for you, as between you and us, to the extent the law allows. You grant us a licence to host, process, and display that content solely to provide and secure the service (including sending it to subprocessors such as OpenAI as described in the Privacy Policy).
AI outputs can be wrong, biased, or unsuitable for a class. You must review them before you use them with students. We do not warrant that outputs are original, accurate, or free of third-party rights.
5. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break it.
6. Schools and student data
If you submit student personal data, you are the controller (or the school is) and we are the processor. You must only submit data you have a legal right to process. The Student Data Addendum applies to that processing.
7. Intellectual property
The product name, site design, software, and documentation are ours or our licensors’. You may not copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or resell the service except as the law allows.
8. Third-party services
Google sign-in, Stripe checkout, OpenAI, hosted files on AWS, and similar providers have their own terms. We are not those providers.
9. Availability and disclaimer
We aim for a reliable service but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is”, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Otherwise our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period (or £100 if you are on a free plan). We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss of teaching time, except where the law says we cannot exclude it.
11. Closing the account
You may stop using the service and ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected]. We may close an account for breach, non-payment, or if we shut the product down. After closure, content may be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The new version applies after we post it here. If you continue to use the service, you accept the update. If you do not agree, stop using the service and request deletion.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer in the UK or EEA you may also bring claims in your home courts and enjoy any mandatory local consumer protections.
If you are contracting as a US school district and your procurement rules require a different governing law, email us before paying and we can confirm in writing.
